Before you leave home

We want you to have a great running experience, however, if you feel unwell before the start please seek medical advice, do not take part or or if you still wish to take part then please check your fitness and look at www.runnersmedicalresource.com for information and advice related to running events.

Please give yourself plenty of time to arrive, park and register. The last thing you want on event morning is to panic because you are running late (pun intended). We would suggest one hour before your event start time.

This is a initially undulating and then riverside trail Race in late winter/early spring so please wear appropriate shoes and clothing for the terrain and weather conditions. Although we will advise of the weather conditions expected a few days, this is only a forecast and things change. Therefore, please check the day before, MetOffice >>>

If you have a known medical condition not declared upon event application or a change in a previous condition that you feel may affect you during this event, then you are advised to inform us as organisers of this change/addition.

Parking for this event is with respect to local road users. There is space for 25 cars in the Elmore village hall car park. Next is parking on the verge opposite the hall and on edge of the road. Please follow car parking marshal instructions as very large farm vehicles use this road

This parking will be open from 7am.

For directions click map below

Here is some information once you arrive at the event venue and Good Luck in the race!

Registration will open from 7am from Race HQ, which is inside the village hall

UKA affiliated athletes and other Club members may be required to prove their Club Affiliation by showing their UKA licence or other respective ID at registration. Please remember your licence otherwise we may have to charge you the additional unaffiliated £2 on the day.

Attaching your Bib

Your Bib, which is also your timing chip, must be worn on the front of either your vest or shorts and must be visible at all times. If covered up it may not get registered on the Start/Finish line.

NOTE: Incorrect attachment may results in no finishing time

Please assemble inside the Race HQ 30mins before the start for a compulsory safety briefing, which will give you the latest update on the course and any issues you need to be aware.

The Race permit for this event strongly advises that runners do not wear personal headphones/earphones to listen to iPods, MP3 players, smartphones or other personal music players whilst participating in the event. Why? Running whilst wearing headphones/earphones significantly reduces your ability to hear traffic, individual vehicles, instructions and warnings from the police, marshals and other people, and generally distracts your attention, increasing the risk of accident or injury to yourself and possibly other people.

If however you choose to participate in the event using such a device you accept full responsibility for your own safety and for the safety of anyone else who may be affected by your acts or omissions.

NOTE: You must remove your ear plugs completely when approaching a Road Junction or Crossing and you will be disqualified if you don’t adhere to this request.

There are Mens, Ladies & Disabled Toilets inside the village hall.

Baggage can be left in your car or in the village hall (unsupervised), but you can place small items, such as clothing into the vehicle that is going to the finish line, however at your own risk.

Once the Bore has passed Weir Green (The Finish) the river bank gradually begins to flood. You have about 30mins before it burst it’s banks. At 45 mins the finish area is not accessible from the riverbank, so a Marshal will direct you through the local farm onto the lane and to the finish lane, adding about 300m to your race, but no need to swim!
Ironically, many spectators leave immediately after the bore, but the most impressive part of the Bore, is the following hour as the tide picks up speed and floods the river bank.

Hot drinks & your pre-ordered food will be available back at the village hall.  There will also be food & drink available to purchase for friends, family & spectators.

Walk from the river along the lane to a T-junction with Elmore Lane West and turn right. Elmore village hall is approx. 1/2 Mile on the left, at the top of the hill, opposite Elmore Court.

The road via Stonebench to Quedegeley will be closed by the Police for at least 1 hour after high tide as it will be flooded, so you should drive back to Hardwicke past the Pilot Inn.

A route map will be available at the venue, but there are plenty of signs around the first section of the course and once you reach the river, you just follow it to the finish.  There is one road junction which be marshaled or suitably have warning signs, but marshals are not there to help you cross the road and are by law not allowed to interfere with road traffic. You cross all roads (this includes Junctions even though you are on the main road/pavement) at your own risk, so please look left, look right and again before crossing the road.

The Start is in the field next to the village hall.  Please line up 5 minutes before the start of your race inside the start area, which is clearly marked.
The start time of this event will be set according to the previous days Bores, but it is expected to be 8:30am
Line up approx to your ability, but don’t panic as the first 500m are on wide paths with plenty of room to give you the opportunity to find your pace.

Once the starting gun has been sounded, you ‘ll need to cross the Chip Timing Mats at the Start Line. Please ensure you remain inside the marked area, otherwise you may not get recorded.

The road to Weir Green (The Finish) is closed by the Police due to the fact that it is a private road and there is no parking available. If you have supporters who wish to meet you at the finish then they should walk there.

Water station

Water is provided at the start available from the Race vehicle, at the road junction approx. 2.5 miles and at the finish line.

Marshals

All of our marshals are there to help you, so if you have any issue during the event please let them know. Please visit the marshal map to make yourself aware of all the Marshal points >>>

First Aid

There is First Aid at the Start/Finish Ar
