Directions & Car Parking
Event Directions
The rugby club is on the Stroud Road, A46 south of Painswick.
From the south, Stroud, follow the A46 towards Cheltenham. After 2 miles at Pitchcombe take the right fork signposted Cheltenham & Painswick. After 1½ miles just after the 30mph signpost turn left in to the Rugby Club. If the road starts to climb steeply you have gone too far.
From the north (Cheltenham, Brockworth etc) follow signs for Stroud and Bath. Once you have reached Painswick, continue through the one way traffic lights and on through the village. You will start descending, after a sharp right then left bend the Rugby club is on your right. If the road flattens and you pass a 50mph sign, you have gone too far.
Car Parking
The Car Park will be signposted from the A46.
Although there is parking at the Rugby Club, please lift share where possible. Once you arrive you will directed by a marshal to the appropriate area. Please adhere to this, because although you may see other parking, there is also a Tennis club and Rugby matches in the same area.
Under no circumstances park on the A46

You on Race Day
We want you to have a great running experience, however, if you feel unwell before the start please seek medical advice, do not take part or or if you still wish to take part then please check your fitness and look at www.runnersmedicalresource.com for information and advice related to running events
Be prepared – Weather
This is a challenging undulating/hilly course on footpaths and trails and is being held in in late autumn/early winter so please wear appropriate shoes and clothing for the terrain and weather conditions.
Previous Medical Conditions
If you have a known medical condition not declared upon event application or a change in a previous condition that you feel may affect you during this event, then you are advised to inform us as organisers of this change/addition.
Arrival Time
Please give yourself plenty of time to arrive, park and register. The last thing you want on event morning is to panic because you are running late (pun intended). We would suggest one hour before your event start time.
Safety Briefing
Please assemble in the Hall 10mins before the start of your race for a safety briefing & last minute instructions.
The use of headphones or music players
The Race permit for this event strongly advises that runners do not wear personal headphones/earphones to listen to iPods, MP3 players, smartphones or other personal music players whilst participating in the event. Why? Running whilst wearing headphones/earphones significantly reduces your ability to hear traffic, individual vehicles, instructions and warnings from the police, marshals and other people, and generally distracts your attention, increasing the risk of accident or injury to yourself and possibly other people.
If however you choose to participate in the event using such a device you accept full responsibility for your own safety and for the safety of anyone else who may be affected by your acts or omissions.
NOTE: You must remove your ear plugs completely when approaching a Road Junction or Crossing and you will be disqualified if you don’t adhere to this request.
Rules
Insurance & Permit
Remember to familiarise yourself with the Association of Running Club rules before the event, information can be found at http://runningclubs.org.uk/ARC_rules.pdf
Marshals
All of our marshals are there to help you, so if you have any issue during the event please let them know.
The Start
Race Numbers should be attached to the front of your top or shorts.
Please assemble at the race HQ 10mins before the start for a compulsory safety briefing. The start of the race is a 2 minute walk way on Cotswold Mead on the other side of the A46. The entire group of runners will be led to the start by Marshals. Please don’t go ahead to the start. You can warm up on the nearby fields.
Once the starting gun has been sounded, you ‘ll need to cross the Chip Timing Mats at the Start Line. Please ensure you remain inside the marked area, otherwise you may not get recorded.
If you have a problem or need advise please ask a Marshal who will assist you.
The Route
A route map is available on the website, but there are plenty of marshals and signs around the course. All road crossings will be marshalled, but marshals are not there to help you cross the road and are by law not allowed to interfere with road traffic. You cross all roads at your own risk, so please look left, look right and again before crossing the road.
Please follow obvious footpaths and use the pavement where possible. Please follow any instructions given to you by marshals and in accordance with insurance and safety, no headphones are to be worn.
DANGER: You will be required to cross a bridge, run past livestock and cross the A46 in this race. The bridge will be marshalled, but you are to walk across in single file as it’s very slippery. Where livestock is concerned, they pose no danger just take caution and give respect. When reaching the A46 crossing you must stop and cross only when you feel it is safe to do so and under no circumstances listen to other runners, pedestrians or rely on other road users.
Water Station/First Aid
There is no water station in this event, First Aid is available at the Start/Finish Area, with the Marshal Manager and with Marshal 3 (The Weir), Marshal 9 (Wick Street crossing) and Marshal 13 (The Church/A46 crossing) .
The Finish
When you reach the finish line, you will be presented with your medal and offered water and also a homemade Mince Muffin.
