The Nailsworth Mills run is a trail event which climbs out of Nailsworth onto the top of Tetbury Lane, looking over towards Chavenage & Avening
Oh the fields of joy, great views, lots of fresh country air, hardly worth mentioning the uphill!
From the start at the King George V playing fields, the route goes round the Bull Ring, before turning uphill to the top of Tetbury Lane (2km).
After about 300m of running, suddenly it is realised how high and what views can be seen from here (see photo towards Box).
Now following, a classic Cotswold Footpath downhill to the quaint village of Avening. At the bottom crossing a stream and running through what appears to be someone’s well kept back garden, the second ascent awaits.
A steady climb, over the fields of joy reaching halfway (5km), before returning to the lower part of the Vale and Avening Park.
The run now turns back towards Nailsworth, will a gradual climb back to the top of Tetbury lane or actually Shiptons Grave lane. Now at 9km, a left turn and a 300ft descent to the finish.
