A run in beautiful Cotswold countryside on the edge of King’s Stanley, through Middleyard and elevates you to the top of Selsley Common with spectacular views.
Both Selsley Sizzler & Little Sizzler runners will be starting from the King’s Stanley Village Green, and complete a 3/4 lap of the green, before disappearing down some woodland steps into the trees, to join the Cotswold Way headed towards the Stanley Mills. 100m before the CW merges with the Ryeford road, the course takes a a sharp right towards Mill Pond and 1km. Through the hedges and a anither right turn, which brings the top of Selsley Common into view. Over bridges, the route begins to ascent gradually to 2km. After 100m, the Little Sizzler turns right, but the Selsley Sizzler 10k turns left down a farm track, through the gate and across the field, over 2 stiles, to turn right up a narrow lane, where the steepness increases all the way to the road crossing. Turning left and in 50m right, the steepest section begins up to the woods (3k) and up onto Selsley Common
Once at the top, the run joins the Cotswold Way, into Pen Woods (4k) and onto the Water Station just before 5k. Continue to follow the Cotswold Way, into an open section above Leonard Stanley (6k) back into the woods. Straight away a left following the steps up to 7k and the top of Stanley Woods.
Enjoying a relatively flat section onto 8k, before beginning the descent down Pen Hill (9k) past the Water Station and downhill, to join a different section of the Cotswold Way and to Middleyard. Crossing the road, going left and then right by the Church, still on the CW and on down to Kings Stanley. Back into the Woods to emerge for a final loop of the Marling fields and made to feel like a lap of honour to reach the finish line.
